Default "PROJECT RETRO" Update (added pics of short block)

#1 - Needed a planel to cover up where the heater box used to be, so i snatched a piece of heavy gauge steel from Lowes and got oout the cutting wheel.

#2 - I made some small plates to cover where the clutch master and other holes were.

#3 - Mounted the PCM to the inside of the new panel.

#4 - Started patching and sanding the myriad of holes I have accumulated in the last 5 years.

#5 - PRIME TIME

#6 - 1 5/8" access hole in drivers side fender for rerouting the harness forward to the fuse boxes and headlights.

#7 - After cutting the wires that needed to be rerouted, I used a factory grommet from the floorboard of the car to cushion the wires.

#8 - Got a few coats of semi-flat black all over, including the inner fenders, radiator support, basically everything forward of the firewall.

More to come soon!

All by myself in my garage. I blew my motor a few months back at the shootout and decided to do something different. Most guys are taking old cars and making them more modern. I am taking a modern car and trying to give it the "retro" look. Shooting for the old muscle car look under the hood when done. Keep tuned

The block will be red to match the car. I just used JB Weld for the holes after hitting them with a welder and grinder. Not too much to fill, so I went with that stuff. Easy to work with and dries fast.

Todd, could one use just the JBWeld as a filler and not use a welder on it? Also, where inside the car did you mount the PCM? Could you take some pics at a different vantage point? Thanks

If you look at the heater block off plate, the PCM is mounted on the inside of the car to that plate. The two bolts heads on the plate are the bolts holding the PCM in. I just hacked a little off the plastic computer holder so it would lay nearly flush. Then drilled a few holes and attached it.

Chevy Orange is for Chevys. Pontiac used that pukey blue color on it's motors. Remember? It's already painted red. Just finished it up
