I had a 84 Firebird custom teal green paint with a 4cyl back when I was 16.. before I purchased it the guy (my uncle sad to say...) had put side pipes on it.. sounded like pure ****... those were the first things to go! I agree.. sidepipes should never be put on a Fbody much less a 3rd gen.

I almost thought of doing that with my 00 Trans Am, but removing the side skirts and bending the slotted heatshield to be more squared off like it replaces the side skirt. I tried a few drawings (which were crumpled and thrown away along with that idea) but I couldn't get it to look quite right. Maybe you guys are right, they just don't belong. I would like to see some form of side pipes done stylishly, tho. I was also considering shaving the exhaust cut outs in the rear bumper and doing a side-exit thru the side skirt before the tires, but I don't know if the back bumper would look OK without the exhaust..

well I have an old pic of my vette, sold it a few years back to my dad
those are real sidepipes headers right to the engine, a real pain to install.
