Default new engine mod (more show than go)

this past weekend i got my intake manifold gasket, valve cover gaskets, and oil pan gasket changed and while the intake manfiold was off i decided to change its appearance via a good cleaning, a coat of primer, a coat of gloss black engine paint, and a coat of clear

tell me what you think

PS and thanks to Jim (Jpack) and Joe (Badazz 97 TA although i dont think he posts here) for doing the gaskets and to jim for painting the manifold

here is the rest of my car FWIW

heres what it looked like after it came off the car, all nasty and stock looking (truthfully mine was pretty clean for a stocker though since i usually get the engine detailed once or twice a summer)

the guy who painted it thought maybe it'd kind of dissappear in the engine bay with all that black, but i think with the polished lines on the top of it, and the polished fuel rails it looks good.

I also like the !wire mod (well more like the hide wire mod, since they are still there but behind the intake manifold instead of on top of it) that was done..

here's a pic of my engine from a month or so ago right after the bay was detailed

i live in nw indiana and met them about a month ago at jim's house for a BBQ for memorial day weekend and had asked them to tell me where it was leaking from so i could go get the car fixed and they were like "why take it to the shop when we could do it?"

so i set it up for this past weekend and drove back out (about 90 miles west of me)

as for taking it off, it looked like the guys knew exactly what they were doing with reguards to the intake so it only took them 45 mins or so to get it off, if that..I definately would not recommend doing this just to paint the intake, lol.. I had a BAD intake manifold leak (4 qts in 1500 miles) and that was the primary reason for having it off... the painting was an afterthought.. i was 50/50 about doing it up until last week and decided it'd look good in black and now was the time to do it since it was going to be off
