Default Long weekend of detailing ahead of me....

Its a good thing its a 3 day weekend....and I have a box full of Zaino!

Actually it may take longer than a weekend....lol But this is my new "project"! I found today just out side of Plains, GA (home of Jimmy Carter ) under a equipment shed on a large farm. It had been sitting there since 1991....no motor or trans but a super straight body and next to no rust anywhere! I am not sure what I am going to do with it but I suspect a LSX and protouring set up are in its future!

Sounds like a lot of fun! I've never worked with single-stage paint. Perhaps it does have clear, just oxidized beyond belief? Let us know how it goes.

Actually its a 68. It was a V8/auto car but I haven't looked into it any deeper yet. Its showing 62,XXX miles. I doubt the speedo has rolled over so thats probably the correct mileage.

I was just joking about the detailing...it needs A LOT before it gets even near close to that.

Run a buffer on half the hood just to see where you can take it. I bet you can bring it back.

Single stage paint can be restored to a decent shine, show quality, doubt it. I did an 84 Ford Ranger that the paint looked similar to that and it came back pretty good. I'm just curious what that would look like with a wheel ran across it.

This is going to be long drawn out full resto-mod project...so trying to save the current paint is not even a slight concern for me. Now what color I want to paint it is...I have seen one in SOM and honestly didn't like it. I am leaning toward a dark red or a dark dark blue I think.

I am so jealous of you. I like the 68-69 birds more than I do the Trans Ams, or the Camaros of the same (69) years.

Very cool. That's a good find if the body is in as good of shape as it appears to be. I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're done (though I suspect it may be a while haha). I agree with melchoir. I like those more than the Trans Ams. Not so sure about the Camaros though... lol.

Well I spent a little time getting to know it today and its in even better shape than I thought. I pulled all the seats and carpet out and zero rust in the floor boards and very minor rust in the floor of the trunk. The frame is clean as hell too. I washed it and believe it or not the paint isn't THAT bad and all the glass is all good and clear. Infact the seats would all clean up decent if a damn rat handn't chewed a hole in the back of the rear seat...

I think I did pretty good for $750!
