don't be ignorent you don't know everything
I never stated that I knew everything. There is no reason to FYI anyone on this site because chances are they know more then you already. Ws9 never had a hood from factory plain and simple. Nothing to argue about there. The Ws1 hood you are refering to looks alot like the SLP HO hood. I HAVE NEVER EVER SEEN A WS1 hood.

WS9 is rare thats why ya'll might not know about it but yes it is an RPO code n my door i looked up the history of my car and this is all the stuff that turned up. but ya'll are right its not a hood i read over my papers and i was wrong its actually the ASCD WS6 hood my mistake but here are all the hoods i could find for the Trans Am
WS9:MODEL CONVERSION, FORMULA

my RPO code
Attachment 139041
my car does have the RPO WS9 code on the door

ASCD WS6 Hood
Attachment 139042
Attachment 139053

WS6 hood

notice the difference in the nostril trim from the factory WS9 and WS6. The WS9 has more smoothe curves just look at the edge by the windshied also notice how on the inake tip there isn't the same the WS9 goesnt hae the grove that outlines where air goes in like the WS6 does

WS1 hood

the WS1 hood is a WS6 hood with out the split line where the air goes in and italso doesn't have the grove outlining where the air goes in

Raptor Hood

the raptor hood has smooth curves and no separation like the WS6 or the WS9 hood

WS9 Hood
http://www.vfnfiberglass.com/ws9top.jpg
all his is is the WS6 hood withheat extractors beside the nostrels

Mecham Hood

this hood is most similar to the Raptor hood but it has heat extractors on the nostrels

Superhawk Hood

this hood is most similar to the firehawk hood except for the fact that it has heat extractors beside the nostrels

Firehawk Hood

firehawk hood is similar to the superhawk hood except for it doen't have heat extractors
WOW tell us more about how rare the WS9 package is please. Do you think you can find some production numbers, how many WS9s were produced each year? THIS IS AMAZING!!!! P

Dude, do a little research, every v8 firebird on the road is a WS9

I just looked at my door codes... I have "WS9" also listed. It just means "Formula".

BTW, if you want to talk rare, I also have the "1SX" RPO, its the "75th Anniversary Package". Yes its real. 2001 was the 75th Anniversary of Pontiac. The package was offered on a few different models (including Grand Am, Bonnevile, Sunfire, etc.).

We are definitely getting off topic here. Anyway, free bump.

OK back to the OP question. this about the best pic I have without going and peeling the cover off and taking new ones. If you look at the very top of the pic you can see the screen on each side of the back of the hood which is the heat extractor. Comes out right in front of the windshield wipers as mentioned earlier.

This is the hood on the car. My fitment is great but as said I guess some have issues.
