With the stock opti it is better safe than sorry so I would just wipe the engine bay down with a rag and some cleaner, that would be the safest. If you want to take a chance just spray it with some degreaser, let it sit a few minutes, then rinse it with the garden hose. Of course I would let the engine run while I do this and then take it out for some driving to make sure everything is dry. Also be sure to not spray the opti, PCM, air intake, or alternator directly!

Personally I have the MSD opti and I rinse it with the hose everytime I wash the engine bay. I believe the MSD is sealed very well and it has never missed a beat so I will continue to do it. I also try to dry off what I can with a rag and then like I said go out and drive for like 15-20 minutes to make sure everything is completely dry. Here is what I end up with, I just gotta get the intake manifold black, polish the fins, then polish the TB.
