Default Interior Upgrade Phase 2: Arizen seats installed!

Ok finally got my Arizen seats. Took six weeks almost to the day from when I paid to when they arrived.

I'm going to offer as much info as I can because when I was thinking about ordering these, conclusive info was very hard to come by.

Here's what I got:

That's just after assembly, and before I noticed that I mounted the sliders upside down. That was a pain in the ***. I test-sat them in the basement like that...the seats themselves are excellent. Quite firm, very sporty feel. I really really like this type of seat. Old people don't, they like softer seats. These are definitely firmer than my stock TA seats. Also of note, the bolsters are EXCELLENT. Well placed, they don't interfere with the human body at all, but are always VERY present when G-forces are piled on. Arizen's leather-work is phenomenal. After doing all my vinyl/leather and stitchwork, I really appreciate the skill it takes to make a professional level seat like this. Great job on Arizen's part. They also perfectly matched the colors I used in my interior work.

That's the good...now for the issues...

The sliders included with the seats are very clunky and tempermental. You often will have to wiggle and jolt the seat while pulling up on the level to get it to slide. Biggest gripe I have is the mounting brackets. They significantly change your position relative to the steering wheel. The seats DEFINITELY sit higher, no question. Though I wouldn't say 2 inches like others have claimed. I'd say an inch or so. This can be helped a bit because these seats will slide significantly further back than the stock TA seats would...as they slide back, they get lower. I like to sit back because I have long legs, so I have mine set pretty far back. Moreso, the seats are closer to the doors than the stock seats...about 1.5 inches i'd say. This could really bother some people. I was really not happy with the seat at first, but after driving around in my car all day, i've come to actually like it. The seat is more comfortable and supportive, and i was able to fine-tune the adjustments to where i'm pretty happy with it now. My wife is still working on hers. Also of note, while the seats do touch the doorpanels on their respective sides, the brackets' mounting holes could be easily drilled out to move the seats in farther...there is about 3/4" space between the seats and the center console...I for one will try to make use of this space to try to re-center the seats. The last gripe is a tough one...you basically have to open your door to adjust the seatback. the seats have adjuster ***** on both sides, and it's infinitely adjustable...that's nice, but it takes strong fingers to adjust the seat if you can't use both *****, and the only one that's remotely accessible with the doors closed is the inside ****, and even that takes small hands.

So, like i said, even with all the bad, after I got used to a new seat in my very familiar car, i've come to really like these seats. The comfort and support of the seat is worth the little details, some of which can be ironed out down the road.

EDIT: I forgot to note... I carefully weighed each seat to see if i'm actually saving any weight, and I have great news...I saved 12lbs. The Arizens are 40lbs each, and the stock seats were 50lbs driver, 42lbs passenger. Hope that helps some of you folks that are interested in these seats, but afraid to add any weight to your car.

Now here's a couple of pics...

Looks great! Most of your issues sound like they can be fixed by adjusting the bracket mounting holes though...

you cant adjust the brackets very much. ive done it with mine, and at best it gave a half inch drop. dont know about the OP, but i have personally gotten 2 inches of rise with my seat, so much that my head almost hit the t-top, before bracket modification.

I don't intend to get more drop out of the brackets. I would have to completely redesign them to do that. I do however intend to drill new holes to the outside edge of the current holes to move the seats over 1/2"-3/4" and center them better.

In my car, the seats are at MOST 1" higher. Just enough for me to notice. I'm 6'2" 190lbs and sitting in my normal position, there is 6" of clearance between the top of my head and the t-top sunshade. I could wear a helmet with no issues whatsoever in the car.

Did you torque down the brackets really well? I noticed that you can pull the mounting tabs down pretty far by continuing to turn the nuts even after they tighten up. The mounting tabs are not very level in relation to the mounting points on the floor of the car. This would certainly affect final seat height.

I like how arizen offers that color to match the lighter grey interiors.

However, looks like that interior is a bit overdone... too many colors for my taste

looks like some very nice seats. i'd take out all the red or orange (i'm colorblind...) and put in the grey/charcoal that is the rest of the seats. i think it'd look very clean. the lighter grey accents look good too. the red is just kinda popping out at you.

6'2 and 6 INCHES of room???? you must be either all leg or have the seat back nearly laying down. im 6'1, 175lbs, and had my described problem. either i had a freak seat or my torso is longer then everyone elses.

with my bracket modified, i cant even get to the rear left nut, so i just did 3 of them as tight as i can.

Again, some people like the bright colors, some don't. I personally love the color-keyed GTO interiors...I almost bought one because of it. Problem is that I would have missed the exterior style of the WS6 if I did that, so instead I went for the best of both worlds. Personally, I think I nailed it.

But if you are content with a boring, monochromatic interior, then good for you.

BTW, the red is "Torch Red". It is not orange at all in person, but it does appear quite orange in pictures. It's actually very very red...would probably match the stock f-body red perfectly.

I guess I should try to snap some pics of me in the seat. Maybe we can work together on this and come up with a solution, or at least a verdict as to where exactly the seat sits in relation to stock seats. It's very possible that you just have less leg than I do, but 6" is a big difference.

How exactly did you modify the brackets? I can see how you wouldn't be able to get to the outside rear nuts...they are nearly impossible to reach with the brackets as they come.

i had the rear parts; where there is what looks like an inverted shelf, or perhaps a backwards L when looking from the left to the right, cut down and re-welded to make the rear of the seat sit lower. only gained maybe 3/4 inch at most, but every bit helped.

Damn...i'm surprised you could get to either rear bolt. They are a damn tight fit as it is!

Anyway, I don't think i'm goign to work on lowering mine, because the little bit of height doesn't really bother me. I do want to work on centering them better though.

I like the red on the interior... I'm sure it looks better in person as well since it probably flashes and looks lighter in pics...
