Default Hid Conversion

Ok, I have searched, read stickies. I just bought an '02 SS. I want to do an HID conversion. Obviously I would like to keep it as cheap as possible, but I don't want it to effect the quality. The thing I am most worried about is the cutoff. I am looking for a good quality kit that isn't going to blind every oncoming car. I am considering doing projectors, so if that is necessary then that is no problem.

You have to watch out for the HID bulbs melting the Headlights. Especially Projectors.

Search for VIP1's Signature. He has a link to the Lighting FAQ's which has more info that you could ever want in there about HID conversions.. the RIGHT ones (projectors) are really the best way to go. You've got an easy model year to retro. A nice set of FX45 projectors, or TSX, etc. Great cut-off and beam pattern.

^^^What he said. You could also think about doing HID fog lights too or maybe that instead. I did it yesterday actually, I got a kit from a local audio accessory type store for 110. I got the 8000k kit with 880 bulbs and they took a little bit of work to install (the bulbs are a little long for the fog light housing) but it's worth it. I can even drive at night with just the fog lights on and you don't have to worry about blinding people.

The only installs I've found for the Camaro use the Hella 90mm H9 projectors. Since the poster has a 2002, I'd recommend TSX or FX projectors instead.
* He doesn't need a sealed Projector for a 2002 Camaro because it has housings in which non-sealed projectors can be mounted
* TSX and FX are real HID projectors with better output

Also check out HID Planet's forums for more info.

Sephiroth3si, please post your results. I may add it to the Lighting FAQ.
