Default porter cable detail

So, i detailed my SS yesterday. I used the ultimate detailing machine with sonus swirl buster polish on a yellow pad, then i applied a coat of NXT 2.0 wax
Seems like i put some swirls back in it with the MF towels i used, could any one tell me why? they were clean MF towels by the way.....
Sorry kinda crappy pics

should have finished it with a white pad after yellow pad, and less abrasive compund/polish.
then seal it with Zaino, couse it will last longer.
once that nxt stuff wears off in couple of days, u got unprotected car

Where did you get the towels?

Like most true sealants, Zaino needs to be applied to a very clean surface. If you're going to apply it you need to make sure every bit of the NXT is removed so it can bond properly. An IPA wipedown should suffice.

It appears you did a pretty good job though.

You need a high watt halogen or something to get a better look at the swirls while working and the swirls you are talking about because those pics look great to me.

If the Yellow pad you are referring to is a LC Cutting Yellow Pad, then you probably did a good job at getting the big, most noticeable swirls out but added medium swirls/marr in the process. If this is the case, they needed to be removed by a light cutting pad followed by a white pad (ALWAYS A MUST IMO) for the most even layered, high gloss, shiny clear coat possible before sealing it in with the NXT. The white pad is the one that makes a car "pretty." I seriously doubt you did that with the MF towels.

Excellent advise, my young Padewan.

OP: First, the After pictures are a vast improvement. So, good job!

Second, remember, just because it's microfiber doesn't mean it's a good towel. I have several different brands and varieties of MF towels and they are NOT all created equal. I have some from Autozone that I wouldn't use anywhere near my car, unless it was to clean old grease off of a bushing. Then I have some from a non-sponsor (PM me for the name) that I use almost exclusively and they're GREAT!

Also, how do you care for your towels? I know you said they were clean, but describe your cleaning process. I've seen some really great towels become shop rags simply because someone used dryer sheets or powder detergent on them.

by clean i meant new MF towels from auto zone.. the reason i could tell they were making the swirls is because i had shop lights on it when i removed the polish and could see they were coming from where i had just rubbed...any good recommendations on MF

You may want to try washing them like recommended above, use liquid dtergent, no fabric softener and no dryer sheets. Also, when you dry them in a dryer use a low heat setting.

that's just wrong.

while NXT is nowhere near as durable as Z, it lasts a hell of a lot longer than two days.
