Personally, I own both a PC 7424 HD and a Meguiars G-110...

The G-110 is an incredible value... It's a few more bucks, sleeker finish, runs quieter/smoother, and has more speed... Its speed 5 is almost as fast as the PC's speed 6 (6k OPM), and the G-110's speed six goes 6700 OPM. They're very close in price and you get a neat carrying case with the G-110 too.

If money's not an issue, Flex DA buffer all the way... I used one that my friend has for about a minute, and it's ridiculous... Too baller for me and what I do though... I would never buy a buffer that expensive.

I've never used a rotary buffer though...

The PC is a good beginner to intermediate buffer.

rotarys are amazing in my opinion but you could screw your paint up severly if you dont know what your doing. my boss just picked up a 2009 acrua rl. the things black of corse and the dealer detailed it for delivery and it has swirls galore in it. idiots. anyways i rebuffed his hood out for him because i couldnt stand looking at it anymore and it looks beautiful im gunna take some pics of the front of the car ill post them so you get a good idea of how it looks.

same here. Makita is my favorite "rotary buffer" the dewalts are way heavier and the motors on them torque way to quickly when you just flick the trigger, the makita is much smoother in operation and lighter!

i use Vesco wools pads and flat foam pads, and i also use the 3M white waffle pads and 3M black polishing waffle pads. just depends on what the car needs and what steps i use. and for compounds i always use Wizards Finish Cut

Is the G110 anything like the Ultimate Detailing Machine? I know Meguiars used to sell a DA that was actually a re-badged PC 7424, so I'm wondering if this is the same kinda thing.

Yes, that one is the re-badged 7424...

This is the one I'm in love with:

Go ahead and spend the money and get the dewalt. Every good painter I know uses them. Don't use a wool pad. Use the foam with the undulated botom. Wool causes swirls. Also use the professional grade 3M compound
