Default Water in clear corner

So I got some smoked corners from ebay:

The drivers side takes in a lot of water and the other is 100 percent fine.

I siliconed the large bulb into place (larger driving light that goes in from the top). I also took off the rubber gasket thingy off the OEM lens and used it for the new lenses on top of the silicon. It can't be leaking from there.

I did not silicon the small light that goes into the side. I didn't do it to either side, so this may not be the cause at one never gets ANY moisture in it and the other gets a puddle.

Anything else to check? I've heard this happening often. Thanks!

Did you only put stuff on the one that is taking on water?
I was afraid of a certain headlight bulb taking in moisture on my car, I put silicon on it and it actually promoted moisture in the housing. I took out the housing and the whole thing smelled like silicone.

It happens to me too! every time I get caught in the rain, I need new ones now! because the chrome has started to discolour in the drivers side, I've sealed them where the 2 pieces front and back fit together.
I think it's caused more by condensation than actual leakage.
I also park facing up a hill, so water pools up at the back of the lenses, so I drilled a couple of holes to drain the water, they'll still mist up every now & again though.

I siliconed both of them, just one has always gotten moisture in it and the other never has at all.

WTF? These lenses are weird. Does anybody know why they do this and how to fix it?

This is what I did, nothing else helped so it was my last resort. Also did it to my new black turn signals

My driver's side corner did the same thing so I took it out and drilled a small hole in the bottom front corner and it solved the problem. BTW I also got my clear corners on Ebay.

Thanks everyone. It seems that they are just junk, lol, but then again this is ebay we are talking about.

Thanks for the tips about the holes, I noticed almost all lenses have these like my headlights but not these. I'll silicon the heck out of them (in a clean manner) as well as drill the holes.

If that doesn't work then I have to get another pair. Only 30 bucks, but still...

I live in Seattle so I kinda gotta get on this, haha.

Thanks man, I think the black on blue theme turned out well for a good contrast for my car

I got my clear corners from RKSport, pissed me off, 2nd set I got, these last ones I siliconed around the entire rim on both clear corners and THEY STILL GOT WATER IN 'EM!!!

I'm gonna have to buy new ones and fuckit, I'm going to drill holes in them so the water will drain.

it's pretty irritating.

Yes, in my sig pic and the one from the front of the car (posted in post one) I am stock height. I just re-did my suspension with Strano/Koni/UMI parts and it looks so much better. Handles like a freaking go kart now!

Dayum, so it seems this is nothing out of the ordinary. WTF is wrong with the construction of all aftermarket corner lenses? IT CAN'T BE THAT HARD! Wow.

Yeah, I don't know what the stock ones have over the aftermarket ones. The stockers just looked so terrible with my color theme on my car, I had to get smoked. I may just buy new ones and pray.

Yea, don't waste your money on another set, it will just happen again. When i wrote that up on cardomain I had clearcorners. When I got my black ones, they were fine for a while but started leaking after a few months so I took them out and drilled the holes too. Not much else to do, nothing seems to prevent it

I had the same idea to silicone the bulbs in place... Only problem is that you are never in a 100% dry NO HUMIDITY environment. Hence the return of the moisture over time with heat and the ability for it to evaporate and accumulate on the clear plastic... Solution... 1/8" holes drilled stratigically in the clear face and a couple in the black rear sections... As you sit they can breath, and as you drive they are forced to breath very well... I did this about 7 months ago and have not had a single drop in there since. I also have black signal lenses on my silverado, I noticed they already have holes drilled and have never had water in them... Gave me the idea.

As everyone said, your best bet is to drill a couple tiny holes on the bottom and seal it up with RTV silicone. My first set did the same thing and my new set hasn't leaked in 3 years after I did this
