You want ZERO resistance!! Thats why you use the spray lube. If the clay actually "touches" the surface you can scratch it with the containments already stuck in the clay. If its smooth you are doing the job right.

I was thinking about clay baring my z. But I just can't see the reason for it, my paint is as smooth as glass - the damn scratches I have on it.

I've had good luck with Adam's polishes. http://www.adamspolishes.com/ I usually claybar my car once a year use the revive polish and then the wax. They have a scratch and swirl remover that you can mix with the revive polish which seems to work well at removing fine scratches etc.

Keeps the car looking like this..

Yea, I know. Hopefully they put less work into the glazes and more into their polishes. They have been doing pretty well as of late, though, with their Perfect-It line and Ultrafina.

You can also wash your car with vinegar to remove all the water spots. Then polish and wax.

Best bang for the buck? If you want it to even be remotely close to "damn that looks good" you'll at the very LEAST want to pick up a clay bar kit (Mothers, Meguiar's, whatever). Then, you really should do some sort of paint cleanser/polish, but if you want to skip that step then just pick up some Meguiar's #21 v2.0 and Meguiar's #26. Put on a coat of #21 and wait a couple hours for it to cure. Then top it with #26.
