Default Carbon Fiber Guys

I was looking at some pictures of the new ZR1 today. GM made the sail panel on that car carbon fiber. How hard would it be to do this to our sail panel's? Could someone manufacture a piece that just glues on over the existing panel? How about for a hard top? Anyway to get the whole hard top roof in carbon fiber?

Thanks!

This would look nice with the 6litereater spoiler wrapped in carbon fiber also. Would match very nicely.

It can be made, but i think it would a hell of a lot cheaper wrapped because it us such a large piece. Plus that panel is a BITCH to get off, you literally have to destroy it for removal. Some of the new vinyls they are coming out with look like the real thing it's insane.

I would be very very very interested in this as well. I'm assuming you're referring to the sail panel that always bubbles on our car. In the thread I have not seen pictures worse than the bubbling on my sail panel so I desperately want to replace it. Someone suggested painting it to match the color of the car but I think the carbon fiber would really set the car off without being too tacky.

Could you pm me the best place to get a wrap, I have a few interior pieces to wrap alongside considering the sail panel.

i think that would be a pretty easy part to manufacture in carbon. i personally haven't worked with it, but have been around it. it is really a pretty simple, but time consuming, process. you could even add some plastic, thin steel, or thin aluminum under the carbon where the glue you use to hold the panel down will be....that way it won't bubble through like the stock one

as long as it's cheaper than the cost of painting/installing a new sail panel, you should sell thousands of them

i can't wait to see it done and on a car. i'm afraid this is one of those mods that will look "ricey" as they say on some cars, and fawking badass on other cars...

that purple car from sweden(i think) had a CF sail panel. looked pretty damn good. id be interested. but i think it would be best to have it as a piece to completely replace the stock sail

I'm not sure which route may be taken here, but I can assure the highest quality.

Id be interested... I've contemplated doing it before myself to my sail panel, but mine never bubbled to warrant it to me. Well, here just this summer it developed a few bubbles, so I hope something comes out soon... If not, I will wrap mine myself.
