Latest Detail - 62 Vette I had the opportunity to work on a '62 vette a couple of weeks ago. Black Lacquer paint .. no idea how old, some of it original, some of it repainted in the late 70's. The owner asked me to make it look respectable so he can drive it without being embarrassed for the next 6 - 8 months, prior to heading to the shop for a frame off restoration.
The paint on this car was extremely rough, as was the fiberglass.
I used a variety of products and buffers on this car, including:

yes, he will still do the resto .. the car is rough .. most of the panels are pretty dried out, and starting to crack, and seperate at the seams. still a solid car, but it needs a lot of TLC at some point in the next few years.

I didn't. probably should have explained that. He wanted to see what the difference was between the two, so I didone panel with the 5050, and another with the #16, then let him choose. ended up going with the #16 all the way around. it just gave a deeper finish.
Please excuse my ignorance, but what's the major difference between a lacqeur paint and the modern base coat / clear coat finish? Do you see the paint transfer onto the pads when polishing?
The car looks great for sure... a huge improvement and I guess you'd have to be there in person to see any flaws.
