6LITEREATER DESIGNS new project... NEW STYLE Targa Roof.
So, my friend Neil said, "Hey, wouldn't it be cool if we could make a Targa Top for our cars that looked like the roof of the C6 and new Camaro?"
I said, "I don't know, photoshop it for me." He said, "Here you go..."
I thought about it and said, "Let's do it..." and we did...

Now this is just a prototype. A "plug" with exaggerated lines so that they won't be lost when molded. Regardless, we couldn't resist throwing it on top of his car to take some pics...
Notice we did NOT just mold and copy a C6 roof. We actually used it for inspiration but also followed our factory lines (the shape of and SS hood, the subtle "humps" in all of our hoods, even WS6 hoods were studied) to develop a nice "FACTORY STYLE UPGRADE" design...
and here's how she sits on my porch...
and here's when God shined down to say, "It is good..."

So, what do you guys/gals think so far? Oh, we will be adding small rain channels, blended into the roof, in the final design.
It will also latch down like a factory t-tops, be made out of fiberglass (carbon fiber is NOT cost effective and will NOT happen), and be made so you can use it WITHOUT cutting out the factory t-bar

Here's some pics next to a factory hardtop that pulled up for comparison...
You can see we chose a "middle of the road" design. I think anyone who wants a Targa Top, the people who want something different AND the people who DON'T want something different (than a factory flat roof) should all be happy with our subtle compromise...

Here's some close up pics, again this is just a plug for a mold painted in black primer, not a finished piece or even design (we're adding the molded in rain channels and smoothing the lines down more in the back so they blend out before the sail panel)...
Neil is probably going to body color his (sail panel and all), should look amazing!

I think it looks awesome! I think the small rain gutters will be good. Here is my suggestion: smoot the back to blen into the sail better. I would knock the high ridges down and make the lower portion ramp up into the sail. Either way it is sweet!

That is probably the best appearance mod I have seen yet. I hope when they are available I can afford to get one. Maybe you will get a package deal together to buy the splitter and targa together?

I like it. You said that the lines were exaggerated some for mold purposes though right? As it sits, I think the lines are a little too noticeable. Especially since the sail panel doesn't have the complimenting lines like the Z06.

The Deminsions should be the same for ALL 4th-gen F-bodys so everyone should be able to get this to work, I just hope they are priced pretty decent.
BTW 6liter, you better get those T/A splitters done
You can make some money

Huge props on bringing new ideas to the market, as an idea you may want to offer the items needed in order to make it a true targe. You said in your post it is compatible with the existing T-top bar but I'm sure there will be people that want the entire targa conversion, just some foresight you may want to think about unless you already have. I agree with others that the lines are a little aggressive and want to see the "final" design that will be produced. If it is smoothed out where it meets the sail panel it will flow better with the lines of the car. Just wondering if you have any ballpark on price? Also curious if there will be weather stripping where the piece meets the windows, I dd my car and have enough trouble with my driver's side t-top weatherstripping as it is. Sorry for the long post, i wish you the best with this and am glad to see somebody with enough passion and ingenuity able to bring some fresh ideas and new designs to the market that until recently has been somewhat stale. - I have some other thoughts but PM if youre interested in hearing em.
