Help me build a show car
I just picked up a brand new 02 WS6 to share the garage, and I want to just make this the ultimate show car TA, and was wondering if you guys would just post some of the things you would do to it if it was your car, and you had an unlimited budget..
I know, everyone says build it for go, not for show, but that is why I have the black one..

But, HRE makes some badass wheels and they are pretty damn expensive too! But, they are lightweight and performance-inspired. Check out their page at www.hrewheels.com . Back those awesome wheels up with some kick-*** brakes that fill the wheels up.
Next, go all-out with a stereo installation. Then add an in-dash dvd player and screen. If you want to be trick, have a satellite navigation screen installed in-dash. Then ditch the factory seats and get some red/black aftermarket custom seats and have the rear seats stitched to match the fronts.
Slamming the car down with some springs would help. Then go visit one of our sponsors, Speed Inc, and look at their polished underhood stuff. The valvecovers look great!
A Corsa catback also looks sweet on the T/A rear facia.
What next? Maybe some painted ghost stripes along the raised part of the WS6 hood, similar to the 30th anniversary T/A. Make them subtle, and maybe even have some slight flames painted inside those stripes. Carry this on to the rear of the car.
Another cool idea I've yet to see on a Trans Am is to have the honeycomb tail lights gutted internally and have them switched over to an LED setup. Have 6 red LED lights set behind each honeycomb dot, all the way across the rearend, and have them do the "wave" to either side for turn signals. How kick *** would that look?

-Get that MMS wing that's on the bottom of the site.
-Get the non-flip up lights from fast toys.
-Ground effects with exhaust cutouts right in front of the rear tire...the angle cut stock Z-28 tips and fit them into the body work cut that you made.
-Since you said money no object...make it have "lambo" style doors that flip up and forward...NO, WAIT! Gullwing style doors...t-tops and all! I doubt this is possible...but damn, talk about "pimpin' some hoes then!!!"
Get the metal in the engine bay polished up, get some carbond fiber interior trim, or color match perhaps a flame treatment would look badass. I like the tailight idea alot!!! Pay special attention to the rims/brakes combo very important!!
Body kits look good especially something not too gawdy and be different...not the same WS6 hood as the next guy. I think the new non pop up headlight would look friggin killer on a show car!!
I have been to alot of shows and participated in them also, the biggest thing is being the CLEANEST!! You might also want to have a plaque made up of the specs on your car, pics of the building process from beginning to end, dyno sheets and track times are good too, people like stuff to read about your ride.

That would be nice, but the question is, should I stick with the factory paint, or have the car repainted by a pro to give it a little smoother look?

I guess that I will add that I do not want to change the structure of the car too much since if these things become collectable in 20 years, that would decrease the cars overall value..

I would have a some custom interior panels made to replace the plastic panels in the car. Also have custom covers made for the seats to match. One thing I have learned building custom cars is to bring the body color inside and brighten the inside up.
I will do this, probably first.. Do you know of an upholstry (sp?) shop that will create the covers for me? and maybe embroider (SP?) the headrests for me?
YOOFORMULA, I am thinking having the engine compartment cleared, and CF accessories and polished everything else is going to happen..
First thing to do to make a show car is to make sure the car is always clean inside and out...and always get the tires nice and shiney and use A LOT OF ZAINO, very important!!!
I haven't tried the ZAINO thing yet, but I guess I need to just do it since everyone has had such luck with it..
Thanks BB..
Help you build a showcar, sure, here's the real question though. What do YOU want to do? See showcars are all about individualizm!
LOL, I am a computer geek, I have no imagination, so I need to borrow someone else's creative side when it comes to stuff that looks good..
Guys, thanks again for all of the responses, I will be sure to keep you all informed of the changes I do make, and will post pictures as things happen..

I would think of what you want, and carry the theme throughout the car. It is your car do things to it you like. Many of your decisions may be based on if you are going to drive the car or trailer it, this depends on how far you are going to take the project.
If money is no object maybe you will have a 15k - 30k paint job and want to trailer the car.
Most of all have fun. If you are in for winning you may spend tons of money and never win. Again do it for fun and the enjoyment of showing and being with people. It will save you from a lot of dissapointment.
Here are a couple ideas and suggestions...
1.) Most show cars need a power adder. A little extra HP that shows under the hood makes any car interesting & fun to drive.
2.) As Steve has tought me, polish it, plate it, or paint it. All of the parts you can.
3.) The car needs to be clean/spotless.
Here are a few things I like that I receive many compliments on about my car...
Polished look...
CF Interior...
Detailed Undercarriage...
Build the car to please you cause at the end of the day some pretty strange cars go home with trophies, so make sure when you walk out into your garage it floats your boat.
Hook up and attend the shows with a group, car shows take all day and are alot of fun with a group of friends. We have a group of F-bodies in the Pacific Northwest that try attend shows together we have a good time and are cars draw alot more attention when parked together.
