Default NOOB Questions About Window Tinting

Alright I have decided that I definately want to tint my windows, but I have some questions. First of all, when someone says that they are tinting all the way around, does that include the front windshield? Do you usually tint the front? I love the way that 5% looks, but I am a little concerned about it impairing my driving at night. I do some late night drives out in the country on winding roads, and I dont want this to hinder my sight. And when people tint 5% on the side windows and back, what do they tint the front? Im guessing that 5% on the front would make driving at night impossible, right?

I don't get the whole windshield tinted...only the top half. If you are on country roads with none or very few light poles...you won't see anything.

If you want the whole front tinted, just get 35%.

almost NOBODY tints the windshield. it can be done tho and looks real nice on most cars however if your driving on country roads with no lights id say forget it. if you DO decide to tint the windshiled, the most you should go is 50%. if you do that with 5% on the sides and rear, nobody will be able to see into your car any which way and you will have trouble at night with it. ive driven through lighted cities and towns with 5% on the sides and rear and nothing on the windshield and i will say it can be a chore sometimes.

don't tint your windshield. if anything, do the top to about the bottom of the mirror. i tinted my rear 5 and my sides 15. much easier to drive at night, my other camaro was 5 all around and it sucked.
tough to see but this is what my front strip looks like. you can see it cut at the bottom of the mirror.

sweetbmxrider, is that your previous camaro that had the 5%, or the one with 15%? Do you tend to have more problems with the back or the sides on dark roads?

I have 5% on my car, and with the windows up I can't see to reverse out of my driveway.

5 on the sides of my last car. that one pictured is 15 sides, 5 rear and strip. it was impossible to back up at night with 5 all around, 15 is much better but still requires some patience. the sides will give you the most trouble, especially if you are the only lightsource around. like no other cars or streetlights. the rear i recommend 5 because headlights coming in the rear window sucks ***. if you are really concerned though, i would do whatever is next up from 15, 35 i guess. once you are used to it, you can always get them redone darker!

visibility depends on the quality of the tint and the type of tint. When you go in they should have certain types of film which can make it pretty easy to see out of when your in the car. Also if you do want to tint your windshield i would either do 50% or 35%. Do a search you;ll find quite a few poeple on her ethat have it. Looks real badass IMO.

but to drive on country roads at night would be suicide. i would do a strip at most, maybe do 50 if the sides were 35, but thats it. the type of film doesn't matter when it comes to light filtered. dark is dark, light is light. i use 3M too.

I've got 17 on the sides and 5 on the back...Sometimes it's hard to see out the sides but nothing to really complain about.

Ive got 5% on the sides and rear, and ive honestly had no issues with visibility. It depends on the quality of the tint, and how clean the install was done. You cant see in the car at all unless you have a spot light shined through it, it makes a world of difference and I would highly recommend it.

+1 for 5% on the sides, back-glass and a visor strip! it isn't too bad at night either, its real nice when you don't have to flip your rear-view mirror at night

i have always had dark tint on all my car right now i got 5% around on my truck and my back windows had the factory 20%.. i love it and i do alot of country driving at night. night has never been a problem its backing up that gives me trouble but you can always roll the windows down. but besides that i couldnt live without it. even though i have gotten pulled over countless times because of my windows
