Re: anyone try polishing intake manifold?
What kind of intake do you want to polish? I have polished a miniram and a victor jr. If you are thinking it will be a sit down one day and do it job you are mistaken. It will take you HOURS to do it. Both of the intakes I did took weeks of my spare time to finish. I don't think I will ever do one again.

Re: anyone try polishing intake manifold?
uh....have you looked at our intake manifolds? take a drive one day, stop the car and get out. touch the intake. it wont be too hot. now borrow a friends car (pretty much anything but an LS1) and do the same. itll be a little hotter...

Maybe you're talking about the mass air flow housing, or the throttle body??

Re: anyone try polishing intake manifold?
The swirly intake manifold thingamajigger is plastic along with the intake lid and maf sensor. The maf front/back piece, throttle body are the only metal type pieces up top.

You can't powdercoat plastic!

I used a can of GM High temp paint Black Gloss (about 4 thin layers and let that dry, then 1 final heavy to give a smooth gloss but not too much or it will run!) I didn't clear coat mine but I guess you could.

I guess that German guy runs in 'speed density'
mode since there is no MAF.If I was going to
throw an LS-1 in some other car, it certainly
wouldn't be a Riviera.

There are a few places that make aircleaner's with the maf built in. If you look closely behind the air cleaner you will notice the black maf.

Unless you've got the new Holley, our intake manifolds are plastic, as noted above!
