Flexplate wobble...
I was under the car while I had it running the other day. I was hunting down an oil leak.
I was looking at the flexplate and it appears to be 'wobbling' quite a bit...a lot more then I think that it should. How much wobble (if any) is normal.
Thanks,
Scott
My whole car shakes and I can't make out images in the mirror due to this vibration, I'm trying to hunt it down, but I don't feel its safe to make a 130+ pass down the 1/4..
That is pretty much what I am seeing. Take a look at the flexplate under the car while it is running. I have a pretty significant 'wobble', but this is the first auto car that I have ever owned...so I am not too sure what is normal.

I think mine happened from running washers between converter/tranny for spacers when i put a th350 in...
Im going to change the flexplate as it causes ALOT of vibration in the car.
I have a shim installed in the crank that the snout of the converter fits in to center it, but I am not sure if I should try spacing it out or from the flexplate with washers or not. How do you know how far from the flyweheel the converter needs to be shimmed?
Just FYI, I am using a big 12" converter, it is a switch pitch design, so I know that the vibration isn't due to it being a lightweight racing converter.
Thanks,
Thanks,

I have a 1/2 day at work today, so I plan on getting this done today. I have a TCI flexplate sitting here that I was going to use with my new 404ci motor when that goes in, so it might get some action a little earlier then expected!
If I end up having to go with a new converter then Neil Chance here I come...
I am going to take the car outl later tonight and see if the vibration is gone, but my bet is that it will be.
Thanks again for all of the help!
Scott
