Flares going into third gear
We got a trans built by a great tranny company.. Used a couple of them and haven't had any problems until this one. I will say that I haven't been able to get a hold of them to ask them thier take on it because we always seem to be calling after thier hours but I thought I would ask here just to get a professional opinion from one of the tranny companies.
This car is a twin turbo charged F body. It makes about 550 at the wheel and has a vigilante 3600 built for the turbo. The stall feels marginally too loose but precision did it for the turbo and power level.
The car goes into second and fourth just fine but in third shes got a heavy flare right after the trans commands third gear. It literally feels like the drive shaft has broken and it flings up in the rpm. It will go from 6000-6100 to 6850 instantly... and even faster than our datalogger can see the RPM between.

I can't stay in it long enough to let it get to third gear. This is only under wide open throttle
It literally rings up like it had a broken driveshaft or something.
One thing I just thought of.. I put a aux cooler with -6 AN line in the fender well (passenger) so I would expect another 2-3 foot of line for it to go thru. Thats nothing that would hurt the line pressure or anything is it? I had to do it because with all the turbo stuff theres no room under the hood or before the intercooler/radiator

No that would have no affect as far as the lines go.
I would have to guess that either there is some hydraulic leak in the 3-4 clutch circuit or a feed hole in the valve body has been drilled incorrectly allowing the release of the 2-4 band early.
I really cant think of any other possibilities and certainly no electronic possibilities

Talk to the trans builder. They said that it was either tune, its been over heated, or its low on fluid.
I've been tuning GM's for 7-8 years now, even restarted on the tune just to double check. The fluid is fine.. We've checked it over and over. The temp hasn't been over 200 and usually sits around 180.
We put a mechanical gauge on it tonight and will try it tomorrow. With it going into every gear at wide open other than third fine I believe we are going to find that something is wrong with the trans.

Post what you see but IMO a flare on the 2-3 at WOT is more likely a mechanical issue than a tuning issue .
