Default Need HELP tranny problem????

I have a built 4L60E tranny with a shift kit and a 3600 stall and yesterday I went to santa cruz and when I was parking I put it in PARK and I let my foot off the brake and it went REVESE.So I put it on drive and it kept going REVESE in every gear, but what I dont get is if it's on reverse and the shifter is in PARK it lets me take out the Key.When I turn it ON it wants to go REVESE. Any HELP to fix this????THANKS

It sounds like the cable has broken or become disconnected. I am no expert, but thats what it seems like. Your key coming out could be due to the fact that the starter key protection circuit relies upon the position of the shifter, and when you put it in park you will have the ability to take the key out. The shifter may be in the right position, but that doesn't mean squat if your cable linkage broke or became disconnected. Sounds like it broke with the transmission stuck in reverse. Since this happens, your car will think that its in park, thus allowing the starter to turn, but then the car goes backwards because the trans is stuck in reverse. This happened to my mom's old 88 Lincoln LSC, only the trans was stuck in park when the cable broke.
