Problems choosing
I am going to be buying a stall and some 3.73 gears. I am just wondering what kind of stall speed I should go with. I have heard that you should try to match it to your power, but I'm not sure how. I was thinking a tci 3500 or vig. I have hooker lt/s, ory, cb with cutout, ftp 85mm lid, slp 85mm maf and drop in filter, and the msd wires and ngk plugs. I know I will have to spend the money if I want a good one, and I am prepared to do that. Could anyone help point me in the right direction?

As the above said for brand... as far as size.. it all depends on goals and future plans for the care ie. a cam and it's power band, and what size your comfortable with on the street, if you car is a DD. Stall size is relative, so what someone thinks is totally streetable, may be a nightmare to someone else.. I'd say try and find someone close to you and get them to take you for a ride so you can experience it for yourself.

Well, my car is my dd and I am planning on installing the stall and gears and then leaving it alone for a while. Maybe some nitrous eventually. I was thinking somewhere along the lines of a 3500 cuz I heard it was easy to drive on the street. I just know I am going to be spending alot of money, and I don't want to make a huge mistake.

As stated above, do not go with a TCI converter. My personal preference is The Circle D line. I run a Circle D 3600 Street/Strip Billet series converter in our 2000 daily driver and it is real comfortable to drive on the street. We have all the normal bolt ons, LT headers, UD pulley, lid etc. The 4C would also handle a shot of gas later on down the road so it wouldn't require a different stall.
We pulled 1.59 60fts on our first time out to the track with it as well. Some like a loose converter and some don't. I just find the 4C to be a great balance of both good streetability and very nice track performance.

I think I have a good idea of what stall I want. The vig ss3600. I just can't find the gears. I have been all over the place and I can't find someone with a set of 3.73s for a series 2 carrier. Anybody have any thoughts?

The Vig 3600 will actually be about a 4000-4200 stall. They are rated on LT1 HP/TQ so they are a bit higher than their rating. Some guys like having a loose 4000 ish stall in their DD though.
Vig and Circle D both offer a free restall, Circle D has free shipping for us LS1Tech members and the I think the Circle D converter is less expensive for the better quality converter.
3.73s will make the converter feel tighter though. I'd check with one of our sponsor for the 3.73 gears. I'd bet Thunder racing, Exotic Performance and a few of the others can hook you up.

No doubt man. I had no intentions of going cheap or used with a converter. I like being able to drive my car. I learned a long time ago, that when it comes to performance, you get what you pay for.
