Default Converter Lockup Switch Install

I've been having some issues with my converter unlocking when driving down the interstate, and of course with Thanksgiving coming up my 'daily' decides to take a crap on me. So I'm going to have to drive my car about 4 hours away on the interstate tomorrow. I was wanting to install a lockup switch to force the converter to lock when I'm driving it for this trip...

I've already got a lockup LED installed right now to show me when the computer is commanding lockup. This is tapped into the lockup signal wire at the PCM. If I were to disconnect the signal wire from the LED, then install it on to one side of a switch and then ground the other side of the switch. Is that all I'm needing to do?

Thanks for any help!

Yes, that is how you do it. I did it that way with mine. The only thing I ran into is when you manually lock it, the Transmission won't Lock-up after, I think it goes into a Limp Mode. Just don't forget that and go to stop and burn up the Convertor..

Thanks, I'll give it a shot. Going to have to remember to unlock the thing when coming to a stop. That's going to be the toughest part.

You may also be needing to max the TCC PWM duty cycle, that
means +12V full time on the PWM pin as well as grounding the
TCC lock signal. Do you understand where your lockup problems
are coming from? Low line pressure (commanded), misfires, slip
codes (see line pressure)? What kind of converter is it anyway?

Not sure on any of the causes yet. I have a Yank SS3600 in the car. It's been tuned since the install, but since then I've had these lockup issues. I've taken it back once to the tuner and they said it was a converter issue and the computer was commanding lockup. I then talked to Yank who told me to talk to my tranny builder, who told me to make sure the computer is commanding lockup (this is when I installed the LED). Since installing the LED I've found out that the computer is commanding it to unlock when it does it. That's about all I know at this point. I haven't had a chance to get back up to my tuner and have them look at it again since the install of the LED.

My guess would be too many random missfires.
