Haven't had the car on the ramps to determine where but it is leaking tranny fluid. Any trouble spots i should look for that are well known?

well there are only a few open areas. pan, front or rear seal, dipstick, wiring connector, cooler lines, tailshaft gasket. my pain in the *** in the past has always been rear seal.

Are there any good writeups on dropping the pan and changing the filter?

I also need some clarification on reading the dipstick tube. When exactly is the transmission considered "hot"? When the car is fully warmed up?

trans pan is a breeze. just pull downward on the filter and make sure the o ring comes with it. hot i would say is after driving on a warm day. my trans temp wont get over 140 to 150 if its not hot out. if its ninety out it will get to 180.

pan is simple just a bunch of bolts. as for when it is hot just drive around for about 15-20 minutes for some (spirited) driving. then check it with the engine running
