Probably because this one is $3XX as opposed to $6XX if I had to guess.
To the OP: I'm in the same boat and have been considering the same stall. What's weird is they used to call it a 3000, now recently they are referring to it as a 3200.

That is so true the price of the 9" is $675 as to only $350 for the 11". I am just trying to get rid of the deadzone in my car between 25mph and 50mph. Does anyone out there have an 11" and how do you like it?
9" is way too much stall. 3200 is not enough stall IMO. A converter that costs less than $500 has to be a POS. This is not something you want skimp on. If that converter lets go, it's probably gonna take the tranny with it. Save up another couple of hundred and Call Greg @ FTI. They'll build you a premium converter for a bargain price. They're a sponsor.

The 11" 278MM is a converter out of a TB I6 reworked to Circle D Specs. It is rated at 3000-3200 stall. It is a few pounds lighter than OE. The reason it is so inexpensive is because it is based off an 4L60 converter and does not require a lot of parts, ie - no billet front. This converter is very durable, stronger than the OE converter, better clutch and tig welded. It is designed for the mildly modified street car who wants a good budget converter.
The 9.5" 245MM Billet converters are more performance oriented. Much lighter, they only weigh about 30LBS. They will produce better results on the track and street. But they don't have the same street manors or price as the 11" converter.
Each converter has it's pros and cons, just depends on your needs and wants.

something I try to remind people when talking about shift kits is that most if not all shops may not wanna pull your 60 apart to fully install it. the local shops here said they wouldn't pull mine apart without a freshening up. either choice from circle d sounds like a good choice. i personally would go with the nine inch converter though. do it once, do it right.
