Default Make Lock Up on every gear?

Is there a possibility to change the control of the lock up (of the turbine) so it
can lock on every gear?
Reason for asking is that this way you could have more steps like 2x4 = 8 steps...and that can improve the acceleration, possible
Thanks for any hint

I don't think you can control WOT lockup.

You will absolutely not improve acceleration by locking,
except at the higher RPMs (and even this is doubtful,
varies by stall speed / STR; I am ahead on delivered
acceleration out to past 5000RPM with a not-aggressive
converter). Torque multiplication is where it's at.

Locking is for cruise efficiency, not acceleration.

so you could theoretically alter it if you wanted to? I didn't think it worked that way.

Yep, you could alter it using HP Tuners for instance.

However, you shouldn't lock it up during acceleration. The converter wont hold up to the torque. It was designed for cruising, not acceleration. It's nowhere close to as stout as the clutch in an M6 car.

There used to be a converter that Chrysler made that had variable stator fins (IIRC), but that was even too costly for them to justify for mass production. The turbine can not be altered. You probably meant to ask about the Torque Converter Clutch, that can be locked in 3rd and 4th gear in aftermarket converters only, 2nd (let alone 1st) will shread the OEM TCC lining so fast you will not even know it. Assuming the trans hydraulics were setup to even allow such a thing (which OEM are not).
