Default 3200 stall temp question

I had this stall in my ride for awhile. I love it since day one. I got the B&M transcooler 24k, but i didn't buy a trans temp gauge. I know i should buy one but what is the average temp with this setup? Also, is there another tool or something else to get a reading on my trans temp?

There is an internal trans temp in the 4l60e's, but you prob don't wana have a lap top hooked up in your car all the time just to monitor your trans. I have a 3200 with the same cooler and in everyday driving I have never had a problem with it getting to hot. I have an auto meter gauge in there to monitor it. At the track on a hot day I have had to let it cool down after 3 or so passes and thats running it prity hard. So I wouldn't worry about not having a gauge, but there cheep insurance and a easy install.

Yea true. So with your gauge what's your normal temp?

I have a B&M 24k cooler, stock pan. Temps tend to stay around 170 degrees, unless it is very hot (90+ degrees) or I am running it very hard.
But I would certainly be uncomfortable not knowing for sure. The gauge is inexpensive and provides instant feedback.
A stock pan is about 2 1/2" deep, the deep pans are around 3" deep (brand dependent, most likely). Not sure that the extra fluid capacity or even cooling capacity (for finned models) is helpful, but having a drain plug would certainly be handy.

Where are most of you guys installing the temp sensor? If your using the pressure port and the drivers side of the trans your temp reading will be a bit higher than the actual "average" fluid temp.

Normal temp rarely gets to 180 even on a hot day. Usually in the 160 range.
