Default 4L60E shift kit installation question

I put in majority of the kit (Transgo HD2), minus the springs that require you to remove the trans.

First off, I do not think I received the "large white" spring that the instructions tell you to replace in the valve body/actuator valve. I had all other springs to do job but that one. I am positive I did not drop it, does anyone know where a actual picture of this spring is on the internet so I can see if I had it or not?

Second, on the new 1-2 shift valve there was a tightly wound spring (no air gaps) on the end, not fully seated, but partially. On the directions it showed no extra spring on the end, just the stock/reuse spring.
My main question is, what are you supposed to do with this tightly wound spring, I assume the stock/reuse spring might go over this spring, im not sure and just installed it with out the tightly wound spring (nothing seemed right when using it, so I choose safe then sorry)

Hola! First off this was the 1st mod I did to me SS. Amigo when you get this done you are going to ******* love it. 1st to 2nd shift is my favorite.

OK the kit you got is complete and is not missing anything. I talked to the transgo guy and he said that the some of the parts in the video have been removed in the kit because they proved to not really do **** for the trans.

-Do exactly what the directions say- Not fukin around here

IE Drill the wholes use the springs supplied and take your time.

You do not have to remove the trans bud. I think thats what your talking about in regards to the components in the pump. I had to beat on the floor a bit to get at it, nothing extreme. If you need some advice send me an email to Ch6v9lle@yahoo.com and I will give you me cell number.

transgo # 6264437451

Yeah I took my time doing it. Probably a good 5 hours or so.

So what exactly do I have to do to install the big bag of springs? I believe these are the springs for the 3-4 burn up problem.

I think transgo is closed today. I need to order a new tightly wound spring and large white spring.

To install the 3-4 springs and the fwd springs you need to take the trans out and apart. You need a clutch spring depressor to change them.

Why do you need to order new springs?

You're not getting to the pump unless you take the trans out. You had to beat the floor to get at it? WTF

The bags of different colored springs go inside the trans, not in the pump, they go in the input drum.

I tried putting the tight wound spring inside of the 1-2 shift valve spring, it ended up getting stuck and destroyed on the way out. The white one I do not know if I need for sure or not, I just figure if im getting one from transgo, I should get both to be on the safe side. You see I replaced the bigger spring/stock spring from the valve that needed the tightly wound one. If that makes sense.

I got to the pump on my 01 camaro without removing the trany. I just had to hammer the floor over a bit. Nothing extreme. Just saying it can be done. I think I made about an inch of room for the foreplay.

There is no way you could remove the pump while in the vehicle. I think you might be thinking of the servo. Here is a photo of where it is located.

This is where the pump is located.

OK had to revisit a diagram. The 1st pick yea I got that off like I said. But the front pump was accessible when the valve body was removed. I had to purchase some snap ring pliers to replace the pressure regulator and boost valve.

Oh yea and I had an oh **** moment because I removed the converter clutch valve... I moved just before it shot out. It had some serious pressure on it....

Alright heres the scoop, I have to wait untill about 5 or 6 Monday night to use my dad's shop, we have to take the valve body back down (right now its all together, driving perfectly fine). So after I get out of school on Tuesday I will stop by about 1:30.

By the way, do you think my seperator plate gaskets will be reuseable after taking it down again?

As long as you do not tear them you should be fine. I have extras if you need some. Just let me know if they are the early or the late gaskets. The early separator plate has a 2 digit code stamped on it and the late has a 3 digit code on it. Or when you look at the gaskets the early gaskets have a C and the other has a V on them. The late gaskets have a CA on one and the other has a VB on it. If you think you might need gaskets bring the separator plate by and I can make sure you get the correct ones. I will see you Tuesday. Ok that makes more sense. Like I said there is no way you are going to remove the whole pump while the trans is in the vehicle. Vince
