You open the table display and select the trans temp PID.
I reads off the factory temp sensor in the trans.

Wait so is there somewhere in the wiring or pcm that you can tap into, since there's a stock temp sensor?

^^It's a Wire in the bunch that go to the Tranny.

It goes to the PCM, see if you can find you a pinout and look. I have it on my Computer at home..

I'm guessing you can't just connect a gauge to that and get a correct reading.

The pins on the transmission are L & M. L is the 5 v reference and M is the ressitance to Ground the the PCM uses. Your gauge would have to match the Temperature vs resistance for the internal sensor.

You can get an Interceptor gauge, plug it into your OBD port and read every sensor on the engine and more.

Forgot to say, it says these are easier to install than regular gauges, just put the gauge in the pod, and plug it into the OBD port.

It's right around your right knee when driving.
I think the two gauge kit costs right under $400, and theres a single gauge kit for $240-$250 I think.

Defineatly more accurate then the production sensor. May be cheaper as well than the OBD method as well.
