Converter for pure street use Trying to decide on a converter for my 2000 Camaro SS.
It's a complete bolt-on car with a tune but never sees the strip. I'm tossed between a Yank SS3200 with a 2.1 STR and the SS3600.
With either converter will I get street traction with either Goodyear GS-D3s or Nitto 555r2?

an ss3600 was the first converter i had in my car and i wouldn't go with anything less. I've never owned the goodyears or the nittos but if they are drag radials they should work out fine. I hear the nitto DR just need a lil heat to make them hook from a dig at your power levels. the ss3600 has excellent street manners and i think you should be able to get it too hook up on the street still.

I just picked up my 2002 SS with the Circle D 3500 stall convertor, Hayden 22,000 GVW Hayden Cooler and Trans Go Shift kit installed. I find that the car has excellent street manners but really comes alive under throttle. I also had 3.73 gears installed before the torque convertor was installed. The car feels lighter and is very controllable even under heavy throttle. You have to be very careful, because you reach high speed very quickly, which is a big deal in a street vehicle around here (SE Houston) due to all the speed traps. With the torque convertor and gears you will find that the car makes speed effortlessly. You will be taken aback at how quickly you will be doing 60 mph in 35 mph zones, if you are not paying attention. I noticed no looseness. Finally, you will find that the car is even more fun to drive. You have to fight the urge to yell "woo hoo" the first time you hit the gas.
