Default Slow Shift

Ive been having the probelm of the transmission not wanting to shift when pushed hard. This means that taking off from a dead stop the vehcile accelrates and when it get gets ready to shift the engine starts to sputter. I then have to feather the pedal to get to shift. Im lossing some serious time becuase of this. My question is, could this be problem witht the trans or could it have something to do with the ignition system?

The trans has been rebuilt once and drives prefectly under normal condtions.

When you say it sputters are you referring to a misfire or are you hitting the rev limiter? The first is related to an engine driveability issue an hitting the rev limiter could be a tuning issue or transmission clutch failure. Vince

These things are somewhat easy to check. At wide open throttle the transmission has to see two things. First the vehicle speed has to exceed the calibrated value and the engine RPM has to meet it requirement. As Vince stated if the performance of either is not at an acceptable level then then transmission will not shift.

to change your stall speed you have to change your torque converter. or send it out to be changed. i had a similar problem with my stock trans seeming like it would take awhile to shift at WOT, i didn't have any sputtering issues tho. I ended up putting a built trans in and that cured my problem with no changes to the tune.
