And I have spent hours and hours helping people who have tried to build there own and had issue trying to help them solve the issue. So I would disagree . I spend a very large amount of tim helping people who have never bought a thing from us,
But I do give IMO what I think is the best advice first.
In the little time I have been a sponsor here I have seen Frank and other sponsors give advice without trying to sell anything. Of course every sponsor will offer their product that is why were are here. if it weren't for sponsors these forums would not exist. But if you sit and read the posts, even this one, Frank gave a list of item he recommended. I would offer the same as well if a person want to go to our website then that is their choice. I get PM'd all the time with what I would recommend in a transmission and I am sure other here do also. JMHI

^^^ what Frank said!
And

Depends on what you want and what you can afford. I think the tranny sponsers point of view is that you get what you pay for, period. If you baby your car you'll be ok w/local build, if you want time proven experience and want to do something once...have it done right.
We all have to make a living to enjoy the things in life we like to do, so if your capable and have the time to do it yourself...so be it, for me, i'm willing to pay someone to do what i don't know, and just enjoy my car

I agree. There is a lot of free advice given here and Frank gives more than his fair share. But this is also how we pay the mortgage. Circle D sells rebuild kits as well, but I only suggest them to someone who wants to learn something new. If you are trying to save money not a good idea, very few actually do. If you have a buddy who builds units and wants to do a side job or something, great - I hope it works fine. But he should know what parts to use, if not then.....

Thats ok I guess this was all written after I was "called out"
General Maintenance Tips, Coolers, Trouble Codes and Other Issues
https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic-transmission/886087-tech-info-codes-coolers-fluid-levels-cooler-flush-more.html

Also with a few 1000 other post that were just technical in nature giving free advice,

But your right and I stand by I don't suggest a person without experience try this a home in most cases unless they are doing it to learn, If may well be true you had great luck doing yours and some do but at the same time tell someone its not so hard when in reality many have all sorts of issues when they try and many times while i dont mind I am the one along with other sponsors here spending hours on here and on the phone with them trying to help them solve the issue,
So if your going to tell someone its not that hard then IMO you should also be willing to give the yOur phone number and be available for them if it does turn out to be that hard,
Not trying to be argumentative but I am on here everyday 7 days a week from 9 am till sometimes in the late of the night helping people and have coming up on 8000 post 99.9 percent of which as simply helping people with simple issues like servo install, shift kt issues, electronics trouble shooting , Non of which sell a thing and you have 263 post in going on three years,
I do see what goes on here and I do see all the types of problems people have had building there own , Sure some are sucessfull but more than not from what I have seen the results are usually like ths one https://ls1tech.com/forums/automatic...up-photos.html With many many hours and dollars spent only to end up with nothing workable,
So I stand by if you wanna build your own to LEARN the great go for it and if they have and issue they can call and I will do all i can to assist, However if your doing it to save money or get out cheap, Likely that goal will not be achieved,

Its interesting how this thread got hi jacked .

To the OP we have parts available if you need them , But I would concur with what someone mentioned above, If your builder does not know what parts to use to make the trans you want you are already in trouble.

He has an idea of what he wants to do, for example he had suggested the clutches, shell, sprag, and shift kit all before I started this thread. Maybe I'm just looking for best brands and what would I want beyond that. Sorry this turned into a giant clusterf**k...I just wanna drive my car again....

I have spent time of the phone helping people with virtually any scenario wither they bought anything or not from us that's what I am here for and it what I enjoy doing

Here is the link to the rebuild kit I sell. It has a lot in it, probably overkill for your needs. Gives you another idea of a parts list.

Why would that be in some instances? Because its TRUE

Can you performance-build a 4L60E? Not many of us can either.

Of course sponsors are going to push their products, but as far as I've seen they have been nothing but helpful for advice.

Yeah, I can. Can you? Not if you don't try. People should be supported and encouraged. That's my point. I have done my own engine, trans, nitrous, rear, susp work for over 25 years and have never failed. If my Dad would have been discouraging to me when I was a teenager, I never would have gotten into cars at all.
