Default Tranny Fluid

Just what it says...What do you guys use? Maybe good, better, best fluids? I'm going to be having my school do some minor things for my car so why not the tranny fluid and im not sure what all i need to get before hand so anything else would help.

Thanks guys

Looks to me like that thread doesn't throw up anything but confusion.
It appears that Dexron III is probably sufficient for the 4LE60 application.

Dexron III was used when these cars were new. The Dexron VI is the newest formula, for the new transmission, but is designed to be retrofitted as well. I would just use the III.

Dex 3 or Dex 6 are sufficient. Synthetic fluids last longer but are more expensive.

Amsoil ATF can be used in place of Dexron. It meets all the required criteria.

4L60E's take a lot of abuse behind LS1's. And of course the biggest killer of automatics is heat, which in turn cooks the fluid. Which results in premature failure, and why synthetic fluid is so beneficial.

Dexron VI, Mobil 1 ATF, and Amsoil ATF are all excellent fluid.

A trans filter and pan gasket kit?? Yes, when you change the fluid you change both of those as well.
