Overheated 4L60E
Hey guys, well heres the breakdown. 3800 SBS, no trans cooler. Drove the car for about 2 1/2 hours straight last night and was hot rodding it a little bit. Well when i was cruising into a bank parking lot to the ATM the car started acting funny. Had to give it about 3k rpms to move and then when it got moving it shifted fine. So i drive 40 FT. down the road park it and turn her off.
Popped the hood, some ATF looked like it came out of the tube. Checked the level of ATF, which was fine and right where it was supposed to be at even though some came out. Smelt a little burnt, just got a hint of it. Leave the car parked for 2 hours if not more, came back started it up and it drove fine. Moving at about 1100 RPMS like it usually does with my stall.
Get a mile down the road, park it for another hour. Then i head home later that night(45 miles away). Car drove fine all the way home. Went out this morning and there was no ATF under the car, on the pan, anywhere. Drove fine to my ex gf's house. Well drove it home tonight, everything shifted/sounded fine and was perfect. Put a little ATF in it tonight and test drove her again and it seems just like normal. Is it safe to assume everything is ok? The ATF is still red and smells fine. Is she ok? Moves and drives perfect. Am i lucky? Let me know your opinions on this.
Thanks - Zack

After scanning for codes if everything is ok I would flush the trans fluid when you install you cooler. Once you overheat trans fluid you really shorten it's ability to protect your trans.
