Angry Vibration after upgrade

Transmission went out last month, got a rebuilt tranny and a used TCI 3000 stall from a friend. Took it to a shop to get put in, stall was restalled and slapped on the factory flexplate. Installer told me that they had difficult time bolting up stall and my torque arm mount was shot. No other details. Right off the bat noticed a vibration while accelerating normally. figured it was the mount. Changed to mount to a Energy suspension torque mount. Vibration seemed to supress a bit but still there. Drove the car a bit and figured it needed time to break in. Never went away. Also noticed vibration got worse the more it accelerated. Turned the car on cold. Vibration was obious, as the car warmed up and the rpms setteled to about 600 or so vibration went away. Just went out to the car and held the rpms at 1000 rpm in park and vibration was there, held the vibration at 2000 rpm and it gets worse. Talked to a friend and he says there might be a converter vibration. This is really frustrating and I have no idea what to do next. Someone give me some hope.

Sounds like it is probably a converter vibration, especially since it does it in park. That eliminates the rest of the driveline. You can unbolt the converter, pull it away from the flex plate. Start the car and see if the vibration is gone. If it is, then the converter is your problem. You said it was re-stalled, it was cut open?? Did the shop rebalance it?

well thats all the shop owner told me, the same guy who restalled the stall installed it. Hes a well respected guy down here and yes im pretty sure he balanced it. Im guessing the bolts that mount onto the flexplate just were an itch to get on. Ill try to get some more info on the installation problem but thats all i got. oh and another thing, its originally a 3000 stall but it seems all i can get out of it is 27/2800. before the upgrade i never had any vibration problems.

Spoke to the converter shop yesterday. Note: Owner of shop is good friends dad. I told him about my problem. He said, and I quote, "That convertor is just a Piece of Sh*t!" . . . . .. . call me a sucker but ima buy one of his convertors. 4000 stall for 425. Now I dont know much about stalls but ive heard some people say theyre just as good as vigilante? Well we'll see if this fixes my problem. Ill keep you all posted.
