Truck 4L60E in Fbody?
Hey guys, I have a 1991 Trans Am, and I am swapping in an LS1 and 4L60E. I can get a good deal on a 4L60E from a truck, but I was wondering if they are the same as the 4L60E's from an fbody? Anything I should look out for? Are there different input shafts with a different number of splines?

Actually, any of the later 4L60-E transmissions will work. What you are looking for is a bellhousing that unbolts from the main case, and the large input shaft that is splined all the way to the end. These came in everything from S-10s to express vans from 98 to 06 if I'm not mistaken. Basically, you find anything that is a V8/4L60 combo in those year breaks and you'll have a direct bolt in provided that its a 2 wheel drive.

Incorrect the 4.3 s-10 does have a bolt on bell but not the LSX shaft and stator that you will only find in 5.3 6.0 trucks and in 5.7 f bodies along with 04-06 gto 5.7 and 6.0
Some 98 5.7 trucks were not lsx based so will not have this.
Bolt on bells popped up around late 96 but were LT-1 shaft and stator along with a shalow bell housing.
Some wanna call the LSX based 4l6oe a 65e but it is not .
