I am looking for opinions . ive used a tci super streetfighter converter 4000 stall(utter junk ,5 pass's and 2000miles before it exploded internally)12.14@113....to the point ,im looking for the best 4000 stall on the market with a co to back it .ive looked at yank but dont know much about there company .i dont know who else is out there,any help would be appreciated.im a old schooler that cant use old school parts

 

Yank or Precision Industries (Vigilante) are the ones to choose from.

I'd look into a Circle D converter.

got a website for the edge converter,i am looking at all these converters .my friend uses a precision industries converter in his supercharged vette.hes at 980hp at the wheels,and its stayin glued together for now.ive heard alot of praise about the yank and vigilante.this is why im asking all you gearheads ,this is a tough one for me .i dont want another boat anker and am willing to spend the $$$$ on something i cant break!!!!!!!!THANKS TO ALL WHO HELP!!!!!!

Also was very happy with a 3600 Vigilante I had when the motor was stock.

 

I installed a Circle D 3500 stall TC in January. I have found it to be a really fine product. I can recommend Circle D. Very "driveable." I suppose you already know this, but you will need a tranny cooler. I also installed a Transgo shift kit based on info I got from this board. You can get the cooler and the shift kit from sponsors of this site.

 

Yank it and get off quicker. They are the best of the best quality wise, and have great customer service to back it up. I think a PT4000 Would be a good choice for you.

I have the Yank SS4000 and am very happy with my purchase. It dropped my ET down 1.1 sec from a stock converter and it has very good driving manners. Dave at Yank was very helpful and suggested this converter for my application. I called Vig as well and was more impressed with what Yank had to say.

That being said, if you get a vig, they do offer a free stall change, all you have to do is pull it out and send it to them. I wanted something that I didn't want to send out, so I did it once and am done with it. I have not had experience with Circle-D or FTI, so I cannot give any input. But I will tell you that a few of my friends went the cheaper route and purchased TCI converters. Well, lets just say those came out and were replaced with yanks very quickly.

Another note, my friend has a 4000 stall vig, and I can stall 500 RPM's higher with my yank than he can with his vig. He has a cam and I have a stock engine.

Circle D or Yank....

 

I've run three Yanks and all have been awesome. I currently run the PT4400 and it's by far the wildest converter I've had. It hits hard off the line and the topend is absolutely insane. They build a quality product and customer service is great.

I'd also recommend Circle D based on what I've seen here at LS1Tech. Looks like they build a great converter and I've not seen a single negative post about them.....just lots of thrilled customers. Tough choice, but you'll be in great hands if you choose either of these builders.
