Default PT4000 Launching Techniques....I suck...

Ok, I went the to track last night, granted that the weather was terrible due to humidity, I didnt think I did too bad. The car went 12.3@110 with a 1.8 60'. Ok, I was decently happy with that run, since it was my first time out with all the new mods, cam, intake, ASP, ET streets and skinnies, PT4000.

I dont know what happened, but I could not duplicate that run all night, closest I got was a 12.4.

My 60's were mostly 2.0's all night on the ET streets Hell, before switching the wheels over I pulled 2 2.0 60's on my 18" ZO6 rims.

How do you guys launch your PT 4000's? ET's were at about 15 psi. I tried stalling it up, I tried rolling into it...I just spun every time....

Was it spinning?

Try brake stalling it to about 1800-2400rpms

Sounds more like the track sucked than your lauching technique. Try to get to the track early before it's full of "marbles". No tire in the world will help you if the racing surface sucks.

How good was your burnout? Do you have a linelock?

Some say it's best to stall these convertors as much as possible, but I've had the best results with about an 1800 footbrake.

It was spinning. I tried brake stalling it at about every possible RPM...If it tells ya how many things I tried, I ran 16 times last night....

It was a street legal drag night, so there werent alot of people out there. Being that it was a street legal night, I am sure that it wasn't prepped that well, but I did get the 1.8 once...I just couldnt replicate it again?

My burnouts were decent, and I do not have a line lock...

I had the same problem my first trip to the track, with 26-11.50 Hoosiers. That was last week, tonight I will try some 28-10.50 ET Drags, I'll see how they work. I also tried every which way, and as soon as I went full throttle, the tires lit up. I was also hitting the rev limiter from 2-3.

SloLS1, What is your best time so far, and what was your best 60'?

What tuning do you have, if any? Mine was not hitting the limiter on stock shift points, although I have upped them now to around 6300.

Let me know your results from tonight, as I am interested in your outcome...by the way what is your race weight...?

My best run last week was a 11.64@118, spinning, hitting the limiter, and the car was shifting into 4th right before the 1/4. The track down here does not give 60ft's on thursdays, but tonight they will, so I will post tomorrow.

Wow...11.64, that's impressive...

Got any news? Care to disclose how much your car weighs?

Well I did not improve much last night. My best run last night was ann 11.54@117 w/1.61 60ft. As you can see the bigger tire dropped me one mile an hour. Believe it or not my first pass I spun trhough the 60ft with the tires at 15lbs and a moderate burnout. The second pass I dropped to 12lbs and did an all out burnout. I launched at 2000rpm and the car hooked. I only got two passes because our track was having import night, so I was surrounded by rice. As far as weight reduction this is what I have taken off front sway bar, front and back bumper supports, back seats with seatbelts, spare and jack, and of course rims and tires. The weather was a lot more humid this time out.
