Default New converter, new problems?

I just installed an SS 3600 stall converter from Yank Performance. From a stop the car performs fine. It shifts like it should. The other day I hammered it from a roll and hit the limiter and the trans seemed confused on what to do next. I tried it a few more times and it happened once more. The other issue I am having is that the car is shifting into overdrive or the next higher gear than it should be in at low speeds. I see the rpms at 1400 and it then drops to 1000. The trans starts to make noises as there is such a load on it. The car only has 15k miles on her. Will a tune help her or do I have a bad converter? Please help.

You need a tune with a high stall converter. I highly doubt that it is an issue with the Yank converter. Vince

I will call and make an appointment for a tune. Could I have a bad tranny? The car only has 15k miles on it.

If your going from a stock converter to this tuning is likely the issue as vince mentioned its generally a requirement before things will go right again.

what I found that really helped in my car is to set the lock up of the converter to like 55mph, that way when you get on the freeway it locks up but doesn't lock and unlock around town. I bet when it goes from 1400rpm to 1000rpm it's probably your converter locking up, because on a high stall it's hard to even tell when they shift at the lower rpm.

Raise shift points and downshift points, eliminate 3rd gear lock-up, scale the 4th gear lock up to throttle position, eliminate the P0757 slippage DTC, and raise misfire threshold. A competent tuner can do it all for you, but the best thing to do is invest in tuning software so you can play with it till you're happy with it.
