Im about to be runnin almost your same setup. I have heard its a very streatable converter also great for the track. Only thing differnet from you is my 3.73s. You should defiantly invest in them after your converter. I cant wait till i get my verter in. Ive only heard good things about TCI, you should also invest in a shift kit(Trans go/TCI) and a tranny cooler. I got all my stuff from thunder racing. Good Luck man

Thanks for the response. I need no shift kit, as the guru that "tuned" my ride did all that.
now, i definately plan on getting the tranny cooler & deeper pan.
Thanks again. Let me know how your set up turns out.

Did they manually increase your shift firmness, if they just did it with a tuner or something like that, you will defiantly need a shift kit. A programmer dosent "actually" increase your shift pressure it just specifies a point that the pressure is released.

For 2 years and 2 different cars I had my streetfighter in , Its alittle small but it gets the job done, with just bolt ons and 273s it used to run 12.40s all day.

Actually the guy that tuned mine has about a $5500.00 programmed into his laptop. we're not talking predator or hypertech. He also has the GM hand held diagnostic scanning device.
He is also licensed to use this stuff. He completely downloaded my factory program & tweaked & input a whole new program. What a difference!!!!
Thanks for the input.
Also, the TCI 2800 got you in the 12's?? Man, that sounds like a good deal to me.

Maybe, maybe not. There have been a quite a few guys on the various boards who have run stalls in the 3000-3500 range with nothing but computer tuning to increase line pressure. After as long as 3 years of frequent track duty and daily driving, their tranny's are still alive and well. The only drawback to the shiftkit is they can be a bit of a bear to install correctly(transgo). If you are going with a shift kit, you may want to consider the TCI for it does what it's suppose to and it is much harder to f*** up the install.

Bottom line, If you want your computer to preform to the maximum preformance and efficency you will get a shift kit, if you want sloppy shifting you will do it with a tuning device.
