GM Dex VI is what I use. When I get the new tranny it will probably be Mobil 1 full synthetic Dex VI since the dealer wants my first new born for a case of that crap. ($7.00+ a quart!)
Its factory fill in 06 GTOs and its backwards compatible with all Dex III trans. It has a new additive package and is rated to 100,000 miles. New G8s dont even have a tranny dipstick, they fill and seal and your on your way to 100k (although I would change it out way before then lol)
Any old Dex III from the reliable fluid makers will work, RP, Amsoil, Mobil 1...etc....but if you want the best, Dex VI. Just make sure the brand you get is GM licensed and not just a GM "accepted" like the WalMart Dex VI.
Im interested to see what Performabuilt and FLT say about this though and what they recommend in their badass built units.

This subject has been beat to death in this forum. Synthetic is preferred so try Transynd. The price is comparable to Dex 6. If you stay with mineral based fluids they have the similar lubricating properties as synthetic, with only a about half the life (depending on driving conditions).

You should not mix synthetic with mineral based fluid as a general rule. I am not sure of all the properties of Royal Purple but if it is a synthetic base and you already using a synthetic based fluid it should be good.
