Well when i posted this my 4l60 was still working, the vibration started only when it was placed in 3rd (D) while driving around ..the faster i would go the more it would vibrate even on deceleration, i could feel it in the shifter ..but would go away when placed in OD or neutral, it was so bad when i had left over change in my cup holder it would almost jump out of it...after a while i started feeling from 2nd to 3rd shift then after from 3-4 (normal cruise), just last week my tranny broke.. its already under repair hopefully the mechanic finds the issue with it and i'll post up.

I was having the same problems when I put my stall in. Hitting the limiter from 2-3. I did the same as a lot of yall drop the shift points down and so on still didnt work.

But when I raised the limiter and moved the shift point closer to the limiter the car shifts next to perfect. I went form 13.5's to 12.2-12.3's.

So really look into the tuning it could be something really simple.

put me on the list mine wont shift @ wot from 1-2 and 2-3. i had the same problem last seaon, had the thing tuned acoulpe of times and still wouldn't shift, my dad put some lucas trans stuff in and it fixxed it. now this season it started not shifting on the street, changed fluid and filter and added lucas and still wont shift. i tired shifting it myself but wont work. if i drive it normal it shifts quick, just at wot there's no shifting for my built pos 4l60.

Add me to the list... it shifts perfect driving normally. At WOT, sometimes it will hit the limiter in 2nd, other times it will shift 3rd perfectly. It doesn't matter if I leave it in overdrive or do the manual shifting method. This is my first automatic performance car in years and now I know why

I will have the tune looked at and see if anything changes........

No, I'd rather shift when I feel like it

My tranny is doing the same thing. It only does it after the tranny is hot. This is a new, built 4L60E from thunder racing. I found what I needed to do to fix the problem. It involves pulling the 4L60E out and throwing it in the trash and dropping in a built th350!! Good day!!

WOW seems like this is a very common issue, Makes me not want to buy a 4l60e from sponsors. I was thinking about going T400 with t-brake but i do like the overdrive...

Okay so i went out and tried the start in d then while in second gear i switched to [d] and it did'nt do the 2-3 hit limiter thing so would this be a tuning or mechanical thing?

That would be a mechanical thing. It supposedly uses different fluid circuits depending on the selector position.

I see that alot of people are having the same problem,it is a mechanical problem. I have fixed alot of problems by installing a trans-go HD-2 kit with the high rev spring kit. That shortens the timing hydrolicly. This has worked well for me in the past. If the clutches are worn also that could be part of the problem also.

A quality basic rebuild should be around 1500.00 w/a hd-2 kit, beast sunshell. From there the mods are endless.Depending on the mods done to your car and your budget.

Same problem for me as well! can't get the 2-3. But my car just has bolt ons, did a flush and it still did it. Everyone I asked just tells me that its mechanical. It seems to me the auto just needs a little extra time to make that 2-3 shift once it gets worn, and tuning it out just gives it more time to shift but probably doesn't fix the problem. So I'm saving for a rebuild. and it sucks because driving around town you'd never guess the trans has a problem.

A worn trans may make the delay more apparent but it's always gonna be there. The trans just has more stuff to do during the 2-3 shift than the others so naturally it's gonna take longer.

You can buy a brand new FLT or performabuilt and it's still gonna take longer on that shift. If it turns up fast enough it will hit the limiter if your trans tuning isn't right. It's just a quirk of the 4L60e, I wouldn't necessarily call it a problem but you sometimes have to work around it. Having more line pressure of fluid volume can help it to get the job done faster but that's just the way it's designed.

If you put a big cam in your car does it idle properly on the stock calibration? No and everyone knows that you need to fix the tune to be able to deal with the inefficient idle of a cam. So why can't it be accepted that if you do something that messes with the shifts that you need to tune that too.

I was having this problem in the fall of last year. My trans builder told me to replace the 2 shift solenoids in valve body. I went to GM and bought new ones and swapped em out. Drove the car yesterday for the first time and went wot 5 times. Twice from a 50 roll, once from a dig and twice from like a 20 roll getting it to downshift to 1st. Made the 2-3 everytime except once it banged the limiter once then shifted right after. I would say that solved my problem, might just need to up the limiter a couple hundred rpms.

Every 4l60e car I have been in has slight vibs. in 3rd.

As far as your 2-3 shift issue it can be many things, but if you do not have the stiff pump slide spring you will lose pressure above 5,500 rpms, this fixed my first tranny.
