Default Trans Temp Sending Unit

Has anyone installed a temp sending unit in the test port on the D side of the 4l60e and get accurate readings? Im getting ready to install one and I am still debating where to put the unit. Id rather not drill if I dont have to. Or is the highpressure line with a T fitting the most accurate place. Pics would be appreciated as well.

I put mine there and compared to the temp sensor in the trans the one in the pressure port reads about 8 degrees cooler than the one inside the trans.

while its more accurate in the pan i have mine in the port on the drivers side.

With a scanner hooked up to my cars computer, the PCM read almost exactly the same temp as my gauge. Anything under 180* was dead on. once the gauge read higher the temps were usually about 10* colder according to the PCM.

I put mine in the line to the cooler, and made sure it's grounded.
I did it this way to read the highest measureable temp of the fluid.
It's still +/- 5* of what hp tuners reads off the sensor in the pan.

Did the same!

Noticed a 15deg diff between the drivers side port and the exiting coolant line. Drivers side was 15 deg cooler.
