I have a 2000 A4, stock tranny with ST3500 converter and trans go kit set at full force. My car ran a best 12.4 on engine and 11.51 on spray.
I plan to put a turbo on the car and I want to know if my tranny will hold up?
If not, is there anything I can do to the 4L60(internals???????) that will prevent tranny failure down the road instead of buying a new tranny? I have sprayed many passes and even with the shift kit it seems to lag through the shift a little from 2-3. I am worried that with the turbo, it may cause probs down the road...anyone comment?????????????
Thanks

So should I have a tranny shop do parts or order a modified 4L60? Anyone know of any good places to look? I found fbodytrans.com and monster motorsports trannies and looks like they have decent modifieds for around 12-1300. Or would it be better/cheaper to have it done to my stock tranny? I know a good tranny shop.
Billet servo's, blue clutches for overdrive pack, kolenes and reds for the rest, Hardened reactor shell, upgrade the bearings, upgrade the planetaries (five gear planets if you dont want to rev the heck out of it, 4 gears if you do)upgrade the pump (13 vane) gonna need some valve body work done as well, have to decide if you want to let the computer continue to control shifts and firmness, or if you want it to be vacuum modulated. Also look into getting a cryoed input shaft and drum. These are some of the things to look at. Buying a built tranny is usually a better way to go and you get a warranty. Most small shops dont want to warranty trannies that they know are about to get abused. Hope this helps.

welp i responded on your sffba PM. and i will say that no stock 4l60e will ever survive. not even close. a built 4L60e like mine will live for a little while but the clutch packs will give up the ghost. 5 psi will make a tremendous amount of tq all the time. cant short shift your tranny
th-400 if it is a weekend warrior or be prepared to freshen up the tranny pretty often, even with teh very best internal mods. i have all the mods that you described that any experienced 4L60e tranny tech will recommend and know it will slip the 3-4 clutch packs eventually. 200-4r might get ya there but will cost ya a bunch to have that overdrive.
what are your goals?

lol i dont really have goals...since I turned 11.5 on spray I have been content with that. I just want it to be all the time...I really dont PLAN on going higher than 5psi. And if I did it would be track only. I'd like to spend at most a grand....
a grand wont get you very far on a built 4L60e internal, esp assuming someone else doing it it would be near impossible. good luck and have fun with it!

Idea...I'm not if this would work or if it would even be effective, but I have LS1 Edit...and most of us know there is Torque Management. What if I killed say approx 100 ft lbs of torque from 5800-6200rpm or so? aka through the shift????
Im not sure if it would be safe with the turbo on but any thoughts on this?
I might just have to try it out with my current nitrous setup and see what happens. I know it will bog a little and i know it defeats the purpose slightly but it will still show gains I am assuming?

Just looked in edit and I guess I was wrong about the reduction by rpm...i saw the rpm manipulation in abuse mode...anyone else know if/how this can be done an alternative way?
