Default Which brand converter

Is the most reliable in terms of consistant launches, durablity and bang for the buck? Looking to buy one within the next couple of days. Any help would be great. Thanks in advance!

Definitely go with one of the sponsors on here. I think there are 4 of us that build torque converters. I would of course suggest a Circle D converter. Do some research. It is a very tough decision and everyone has their favorite brand, you will get a lot of opinions. We will custom build a converter for your car.

What is it you are looking for in a converter? What are your mods? What is more important, street manors or performance? Any big future plans?

I picked a Circle D because I like the amount of surface area on the lock up clutch, that was important to me. I don't think there's a bad manufacturer in the bunch but they do have different ways of accomplishing the same goals.

I can only speak for Yank, but I've had three and all were topnotch. They have a three year warranty and multiple options to fit any need. You'll spend some cash on one, but you get what you pay for. A converter is one area you don't want to skimp on. Give them a call and see if they have something that catches your eye. You won't be disappointed!

Yank here but wouldn't hesitate to look at Circle D or FTI. We are lucky to have several good ones to choose from unlike some other parts for these cars ...That is another couple of chapters though....

I too run a Yank and have had zero issues with it, but based on some recent things I have read and some numbers I have seen, I would for sure give Circle D some thought on my next converter.

I too would recommend going with Circle D Specialties for your custom converter needs. You can't beat the quality and customer service. I think they offer free shipping for LS1Tech members and a free restall.

Dont get caught in a Circle Yankin it!!
FTI is by far the best built converter you can find. Their conv's work great for everyday driving and at a dragstrip is where they really shine. I have a 9sec blown 382 LS6, a LS3 427(10.3sec daily driver) and my 2005 GTO with FTI conv and have had great results and Greg sets them up perfect for your combo right out of the box. I have at least 20 friends with LS1, LS2, LS3 Fbodys and Vettes around Central Florida and everyone now uses FTI converters and i've never seen a problem. I have had Yank and Vigilanti conv break from lots of dragracing but never a problem with FTI. I bracket race the LS3 427 every week 7- 10 runs a week + test n tune every Wed, the GTO is raced by a pretty teammate and is #4 in points with over 100 runs this year with FTI!!!

i went with an edge 3200 converter, pretty pleased as it cut a 1.6x 60 foot with more in it with a stickier tire. i was DRs.

this is against a H/C car that was asleep on the tree.
