Default hitting the rev limiter question

Ok just because you are hitting the rev limiter does not mean your tranny is going out, correct ? Last year when I ran at the track I made like 7 runs the last 2 I hit the rev limiter just past the half way mark so I let off and stopped making passes that day. Right after that I had some tuning done to see if it would solve the problem and have not been back to the track, but want to go soon. The car has only 28,000 miles, mods are below. The fluid is red and looks new. This is what we done in tuning. We deleted Torque mgmt ,deleted abuse mode on the tranny and the engine, deleted power enrichment delay, raised the rev limiter up to 6800,line pressure to 96psi,shift points to 6500, shift points changed sooner out of 1st and 2nd and later 3rd and 4th. Will these changes have any affect on my problem. I have ran the car on the street getting on it thru the gears and no problem so far,but the track is always different.

Hitting the rev limiter can be a tuning issue, no doubt. Very typical with an aftermarket high stall converter. Sounds like you addressed the normal items to fix it. Go racing and see what happens.

In a few weeks I should be able hit a local track. I just told my tuner guy what my problem was and he went at it. He was very surprized to see so many things were not deleted out that usually hurt your times at the track. It drives fine on the street, even when you kick it down the shifts are firm and fast. I wonder how much does torque mgmt and abuse mode have to do with your tranny shifting ?

I had a problem hitting the limiter and it was because my transmission was indeed broken. At WOT from 40mph it would bounce right off the limiter. The 2-4 bands wouldn't work properly. Still waiting on my builder to get it from UPS and tell me why though.

Update I went to a local track only got to make 3 runs but the tranny shifted great. Now I need a better converter. I was told a pt 4000 would do me good. It is a street/strip weekend play toy. My best run so far is a 12.22 at 112mph/1.79 60 ft. Everyone tells me my car should be in the 11s easy and converter is holding me back. Let me know what you reccomend. Thanks!

my 3200 edge converter cut a 1.69 60 ft on drag radials on this run with no suspension mods and full weight.

this is against a H/C car with weight reduction who i caught sleeping at the tree.

so i think your 60 should be better.
