without the proper tool, it's easiest to put a prybar or large flathead between the reverse drum and back of pump. pry up just a bit to unstick it, push the pump back down and repeat. you only unstick it in a corner but this wiggling motion will unstick it and you can pull it right out. You did remove the filter and tcc solenoid right? Choose carefully where you pry so you don't damage anything. I wrapped the pry bar in a towel.

YOU WERE TOLD WRONG YOU WILL DAMAGE THE TCC SOLENOID AND FILTER!

1- place trans in such a way that the bell housing points up.
2-remove bell housing
3-remove pan and filter
4-On left side top you will see a round solenoid and a clip that hold it in. Remove the clip and pull solenoid out,
5-directly under that solenoid you will see another held in with two 10mm bolts. Remove the bolts and pull that solenoid out.
6-Remove the 13mm pump bolts and the oring from the input shaft.
7-Now in the same general location on each side as you removed the solenoid from you can see bottom of pump. Use two screew drivers to pry up on each side the grab the stator (not the input shaft) and pull pump straight up.
8-Reverse for installation except you will note the plastic washer on bottom of the pump. Use some vasaline (petrolium jelly) to hold it in place. Use the same to hold the pump gasket in place You will note it will only fit one way as is the pump.
Put vasaline around the pump then gently drop into place, Its helpfull to use a long philips head as a guide. The start all bolts but do not tighten, Use a soft hammer and gently tap around the face of the pump untill its fully seated.

torque pump bolts to 22 ft lbs.
Dont forget oring on input shaft.

The Teflon seals are what is catching. The pump came from a local performance shop.

ok you are going to need two radiator hose clamp and a peice of thin plastic you can cut to make a protector for the seals

poor mans teflon ring sizer
Cut a round peice of plasitic the same general dimension as the clamps rap plastic around the rings them put the clamps on around them tighten the clamps up . Now if its sunny and warm where you are set it all in the sun for about 15 20 minutes. Then remove the clamps and try the installation again.
Optionally you could just take the pump back to the trans shop and ask then to size the rings again. They should have the proper tool for the job.

On install lube everything up with petrolium jelly (vaseline)

Good Luck with it.

I got it back together and it shifts fine. Pulled back in the driveway and it has no reverse. When the tires are off the ground it hits reverse fine but will not move the car. Any ideas?

The ls1 slung a rod and they put a 5.3 long block in it. I put a car pan on when i got it and the trans didnt pull when i got it. I pulled the pump and found the when they put the motor in the converter wasnt in all the was and destroyed the pump. I changed the pump and put the car back together and it shifts into every gear. I added more fluid and reverse started working but it dont pull till about 2,500rpms. Then i put it in neutral and it sounds like a blow dryer or something.

I must say this worked greatly but a blow dryer works faster than the sun. Thanks for all the help you have given me!

With the noise I would say you still have trans issues.
Did this trans work before the engine swap, Is this a stock converter?

Sounds similar to what was going on with mine. Is it difficult to rotate the wheels by hand in neutral when the car is in the air?

Im not sure ill have to try it later. It acts like its in a bind when i put it in reverse and it will start pulling at 2,000rpms. I have been driving it and it runs/shifts/drives fine its just the reverse that has a problem.
