Default Are you thinking about a converter?

I have had my converter for 2 week now. I have never been more happy with anything in my life. A guy at work has a 2000 Saleen . We have ran a few times before and the SS has always won. By 5 cars from a dig to 100 and by 2.5 cars 60-110. We take the same way home. Today we went from 65mph and it was awsome. I pulled 6 cars by 110. When i hit 3rd at 85mph my tach just sat at 4900rpm and the car just pulled and pulled. It was nothing short of amazing. His car ran 13.6's at the strip so its pretty quick. But it proves to me im in a whole different class now. Buy one now.

The easiest question ever asked on LS1Tech is, "Do I need a converter?" Unless your car is an M6, yes...and even then I'd at least consider swapping to an A4 with a 4000 stall.

Best decision I've made for my car. .6 in the 1/4 for $450 bucks, can't beat that.

Or to a TH-400 w/ 4000 stall!!!!

Definately one of the best mods i've done to the car!

Just got my converter in last friday and i can't keep off of it. It's awesome. I have major TM issues on the 1-2 shift as the car falls flat on it's face until the rpms rise again. Not sure about the 2-3 shift as i haven't done a WOT run through that shift.

What do your rpm's fall to on th 1-2 shift? Mine stays at 4900 right after the shift untill 55 or so then rise with MPH. The 2-3 shift is great, Falls to 5k and pulls strong. Sorry to hear about your TQ managment issues.

Actually, i'm not sure what my rpms are at on the 1-2 shift. :edit: Went out tonight and did some runs. Stays at 4200+ on the 1-2 shift, and actually it didn't fall on it's face as it did with the 1st run. :edit: Now i'm not sure if i wanna delete TM with all the issues i hear about that now. Then again it feels downright nasty for the car to slow up like that on the shift.

I just installed my Vig 2800 a week ago and took my boss for a quick ride around the block today...he could only smile from ear to ear and laugh he was so impressed. He said the car is a f-ing roller coaster. I was loving it.

As for TM issues...I'm not sure if I'm seeing them or not. My car used to bark the tires going into second, but now they don't, but the car still seems to be pulling it's *** off. I think it's due to the difference in converter and lack of a shift kit. Any thoughts on how it should hit second gear?

You defiantly need a shift kit. That will firm up the shifts by increasing line pressure. I get sidewayz on the 1-2 shift and my converters not even in yet. You should look at the TCI or the TransGo the TCI is simple and easy to install but the TransGo has more features and a little bit more difficult to instal. They are both relatively cheap. Good Luck man

onebadz...I'm in the Charlotte area.

I'm may go with a shift kit later on...but the wife wasn't happy when I ordered the converter a few weeks ago. I've got to lay low for a while
