How many people are running their trannys? I like the stage 2 version. 600hp/600tq is pretty stout. I'm sure they're fwhp numbers thought
As often as I race it should last many many years anyway..lol.

Once my 4L60E craps again its a TH350 for me along with a ATI converter/2.75 1st gear.
Good luck Den.....

Joel,
It's not a matter of not listening, I don't want a straight drag racing 3 speed tranny basically, just a 4L60E that will take some abuse, cause I don't race all the time anyway. Hope your setup is almost done. I'm dying to get my setup finished
Take care.

If you're going to get the Stage 2, I'd get the vaccum modulation option ($150) if you're going to be using it on your blower car. The only time we'ver EVER hurt a Level 2 was on a big boost blower car. The electronics freaked out for some unknown reason and spiked line pressure so high it actually blew the 3-4 clutches straight out of the housing, shearing all of the teeth off. The vacuum modulator eliminates the chance of that happening (that car now has over 10,000 miles on it and 25+ track passes without an issue).
TH350's/400's are nice, but we're all about brutally fast street cars that hold their own at the track. 3 speeds don't exactly fit our description of a true street tranny, although some of us drive TH400's around town.
4L60E's are stronger than most people give them credit for, if built correctly. I'd compare it to an "old school" chevy guy saying LS1's are weak just because they are so different than what he is used to. Same thing with transmissions...old schoold 350's and 400's are strong, no doubt, but don't write off the 4L60E as weak.
We'll post a video soon of a 1200hp/1100lb/ft, 4500lb car with a 4L60E in it. How's that for abuse?

25 runs?
No offense but put 250 HARD RUNS on it and then let me know how the sucker is holding up.
I have a very good tranny builder here and we did the vacum mod,all the tricks, clutches, steels, trans go etc.
I have 30 hard runs on it and it shifts perfectly...
But I know after 250 runs it'll kill the 3rd gear clutches.
When that happens I'm done with the 4L60E.
Dennis if your only gonna run the car 10 times a yr then Fbody is correct, the 4L60E will be fine for u.
Good luck.....

Joel,
You know me, I like to keep the car as stock or at least as stealthy as possible. But you are 100 % correct, the TH400 is what I would do if this thing saw steady track use. Thanks for your advise.
CMotorsports,
It sounds like one heck of a tranny. It's going to real soon when we tear the car down, as soon as we do I'll call and order the trans..or I can just send you my tranny. If I shipped my tranny to you, how long is the turn-around?
Thanks,
Den

I look at all the runs I recorded in Excel and it came out to 560, I can e-mail you the file if you like.
