you pretty much have to take the whole transmission out.

Dont forget the trans cooler. About that... Where are people putting them? Everything i have heard says keep the stocker then run it to the aftermarket one so it cools the fluid more right before it gets the tranny. Where do you put it and what is the cleanest way to plumb it

Pay attention to this:

There are 3 engagements into the torque converter:
- the input shaft,
- the stator shaft,
- the pump drive;

If you don't get all 3 then you will damage the pump.

Just be sure to get stall all the way in and set. Pay attention to the stock conv when you take it out. You will see how it should look when you put the new one in. Be sure to get a trans jack and don't let the dip stick tube screw ya.

Have fun!!

I run a 24k B&M. Since I like my tranny running about 160-180 degrees, and my radiator runs about 190-200 degrees, I took it out of the trans cooler circuit. Otherwise, it would heat rather than cool the fluid. Mine goes right in front of the condensor, but I have seen other mounting methods.

Im really questioning the airflow to this stlye of mounting. i believe this one is best with the fan attached to the cooler.

Just read a tech article in the may 09 Camaro performers magazine about them intstalling a tranny and they talk about the Torque converter and if you have to shim it. all in all a good article. Here is a link to tranny cooler kits too. .http://store.summitracing.com/egnsea...839034&NeXID=5
